Little Egret, a unique ground-floor self catering retreat, is a newly renovated listed apartment nestled in a terrace of former fishermen’s houses in the village of Carsethorn in Dumfries and Galloway. It is right next door to my studio and our house. Enjoy the breathtaking terrace view from this area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and proposed Galloway National Park.
The cosy living room has a wood burning stove for cooler days. Perfect for warming up after a walk on the quiet shore line and watching for little egret, ospey, otter and porpoise. The whole apartment has been lovingly restored, heavily insulated and fitted with an air source heat pump. As well as being cosy it is decorated with my art work and if you have to work, it has a dedicated work area with a sea view.
Enjoy the private beach garden with stunning views over the solway firth. The garden areas are perfect if you have your dog with you as they are all fully enclosed. From here you have direct access to the beach where you can walk for miles along the coast. This little known area of Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland is locally called The Scottish Riviera due to it's sheltered position and warm climate.

We have a fully equiped kitchen with induction hob, fridge freezer and dish washer. but if you don't feel like cooking you are only two doors away from The Steamboat Inn and it's famous coastal beer garden. As well as providing really delicous food it is also dog friendly and in winter has a roaring log fire. Our accomodation is dog friendly so your four footed friend can stay too.
The bedroom with a super king size or twin beds is a cosy quiet retreat and opens onto a private patio area. This area is a real sun trap in the afternoon and if it breezy out the front it is usually a good sheltered spot to sit and plan the day ahead or to relax with a drink at the end of the day if you have been out and about.
If you have had enough of exploring and just need some quiet time then you can settle down with one of my jigsaws or even some colouring in which are both provided in the accomodation. Perfect for some quiet time or for when the weather lets you down and you can coorie down in front of the stove.
